Seifukujutsu
In addition to martial techniques, the Danzan Ryu curriculum
also includes the study of Seifukujutsu (lit. the "Art
of Restoring Life"). These healing arts are based on
traditional Chinese medicine and have been with us in their
current form since the 14th century. Seifukujutsu is a comprehensive
healing system and includes:
- Anma (massage)
- Cupping
- Moxabustion
- Bone setting/chiropractics
- Kappo (resuscitation techniques)
- Herbology
- Scraping
- Sotai (whole body therapy)
- Shiatsu
- Hydrotherapy
- Diagnosis
Kaifuku Anma
Kaifuku Anma (Kai = "entire", Fuku = "restorative",
Anma = "pushing/pressing") is a whole body massage
whose goal is to improve circulation, flush toxins from the
body, and break down the body's tissues so that they may grow
stronger. Classes in Kaifuku Anma are taught periodically
by Sensei Jason Spencer.
